OZARK #1.01 ~ The new Netflix drama takes its time setting up its characters and story, but that's one of the advantages of series storytelling. Jerome thinks this one is worth the wait once it really gets going.
LOADED #1.01 ~ AMC's imported British drama has a premise similar to Silicon Valley but with less funny moments and more censoring. Jerome isn't sure it has the stand-alone strength needed to get viewers engaged.
WILL #1.01 ~ TNT's new series doesn't stack up to other television giants, but Jerome appreciates that the network stays fairly consistent in its originality.
SNOWFALL #1.01 ~ It takes more than an interesting event or era in history as a backdrop to keep people engaged in a series (complex characters or a driving story line), and Jerome isn't sure FX's new drama delivers in those areas.
LAUGH-IN DVD SET ~ With a star-studded (even by today's standards) list of regulars and guests, people who didn't know this series existed should consider adding it to their home library.
GYPSY #1.01-10 ~ Netflix's new original drama series starring Naomi Watts has components that would make it a great show: an excellent cast and an intriguing premise. But Jerome thinks there's something missing that will keep it in the "just OK" category.
VIXEN: THE MOVIE ~ Did you know there's an animated DC show that does with the live ones on the CW? Jerome reviews the collected edition of the two seasons, now edited into a movie.
TWIN PEAKS #1.01-02 ~ With a 25-year gap between the original series and its resurrection on Showtime, Jerome feels the new episodes needed to pack more of a punch in its first 2 hours than it did. Hopefully it will find its focus in the next couple episodes...
AMERICAN GODS #1.01 ~ Bryan Fuller is the perfect person to adapt the Neil Gaiman fantasy novel that involves a fight between old gods and new, with a mortal named Shadow trapped in the middle.
THE HANDMAID'S TALE #1.01 ~ This Hulu series based on the 1985 book is unfortunately relevant to current events, with issues of gender equality, reproductive rights, and civil liberties brought to life by an excellent cast and production design.
GIRLBOSS #1.01-13 ~ Great performances and a decent story make this new Netflix series a solid choice for a good binge. Just be prepared for some unnecessary "throwbacks" to the good old days of... 2006.
CLASS #1.01 ~ Jerome likes this new Doctor Who spin-off, but will it be able to find its own place in the DW universe, especially considering it is airing parallel to the new season of its parent show?
DOCTOR WHO #10.01 ~ Jerome and guest Nick recently attended the Fathom Events big screen showing of the Doctor Who season 10 premiere! Now they're here to brag...er, to share their thoughts on the event itself, on the pilot episode of Class (the new DW spin-off), and of course on the much-anticipated return of everyone's favorite Time Lord.
IRON FIST #1.01 ~ Marvel's latest Netflix release has a lot of potential, but the pilot episode alone doesn't offer enough to be able to say how much of it the show will live up to.
UNDERGROUND #2.01 ~ When multiple story lines and a large bunch of characters are handled well, having a lot going on can be a great thing in a TV series. UNDERGROUND accomplishes just that with it's season 2 premiere.
FEUD #1.01 ~ With SusanSarandon and JessicaLange leading the first season, FX's latest anthology series from Ryan Murphy comes out strong in an increasingly competitive era of television.
TAKEN #1.01 ~ "The best thing that could happen to TAKEN is a quick death... It would be a mercy to the fans and viewers in general for this to get yanked quickly."
BIG LITTLE LIES #1.01 ~ An A-list cast and the added drama that comes with the freedom of a limited-run series (anything goes and everyone's fair game) have Jerome hooked on this HBO miniseries.
THE GOOD FIGHT #1.01 ~ This spin-off of The Good Wife will feel familiar to fans of its predecessor but finds its own footing. The question is will enough people find their way to a CBS All Access subscription to watch it.
DOUBT #1.01 ~ There are many reasons why Jerome isn't excited about CBS's new legal procedural, but (perhaps surprisingly) Katherine Heigl isn't one of them.
LEGION #1.01 ~ Great acting, great visuals, great balance of familiar elements and originality... Jerome can't find much if anything negative to say about this new FX series about one of the more obscure characters in the Marvel universe.
